The Kit...

Dream Model brings us it’s 1/700 offering for the Type 071 LPD from China. The kit is resin and the hull is well formed with great detail and little to no flashing and no real clean up needed. The kit is heavily upgraded with large PE frets for the entire flight deck as well as all three walls of the amphibious operations hanger below deck. The PE includes tiny details such as the windshield wipers on the bridge windows of the ship as well as the LCAC’s. As is the case with most resin kits, this kit has few parts to add to the hull which is almost completely formed right out of the box.

The kit also includes two transport helicopters and four LCAC’s which are virtually kits in themselves. As you can see from the instructions, a great deal of effort went into the parts and decals for the LCAC’s.

The instructions were well illustrated, and the exploded details made for a simple build up.

The decal sheet was inclusive and I appreciated the entire set flight deck markings being put on a single decal sheet, which, while it can be challenging to work with during application, assures that all the lines will be straight and square.

The Build...

Essentially OOB. I added stretched sprue for the little rigging there is on this kit. Tamiya acrylics were used throughout.
