1⁄700HMS Hood 1931
HMS Hood…
This is a small build which I did for my dad’s birthday whilst we are renovating our house, which was quite a challenge, since that’s taken most of my time lately.
Everyone by now knows the story of H.M.S. Hood so no need to go into it here.
The kit is done in the museum style, so no ‘diorama’ or ‘weathering’ so to speak, but a nice timber base to dress it up a bit, and clear acrylic cover to stop dust attacking the model.
Paint is Humbrol, PE is WEM and the rigging is Caenis thread. The Caenis thread is absolutely great for those of us without the knack for stretching sprue to the thicknesses required at this scale. I take my hat off to all of you who work in 1/700 scale regularly!
My preferred scale is 1/350 and I must say that this was a real challenge. The only thing I’d change was the final outcome of the deck color, which turned out a bit too orange for my tastes. Live and learn as they say.
