IJN Kongo...
This is a joy to build and carries a lot of high detail both on the deck and surrounding points of the ship, so much so, I took the decision to partly built this straight out of the box, using only the very basic etch and then trying to use both weathering and shade to highlight ammo boxes and reels. The two boom cranes I allowed to slip whereas PE parts there, would have done them a power of good, there are other new tool models on the market, and like this one, worth that extra money. The rigging is both plastic and fly fishing line.

As others have said, nice work there. Always good to see a Barrow-built boat on here. Just wish there was an as-built kit available in plastic.

Barrow-built is a term used to describe ships built, at the shipyard, here in my hometown Barrow-in-Furness. The Kongo was the final ship that Japan had built outside of Japan. We still have the builder's model here in the Dock Museum which is built over the graving dock that was once part of the shipyard.
Over the years many famous ships have left the Vickers (now BAE Systems) yard.
These have included the first submarine to fire a live torpedo under water (the Abdül Hamid). Britain's first submarine (Holland 1), the Russian navy's Rurik2, and many others.
You can find some nice pictures, of Barow-builtships, here... LINK
