DDG550 MM Ardito...

The Ship: The Italian guided missile destroyers Ardito (DDG550)/Audace (DDG551) Either sister ship may be completed depending on hull numbers. The Kit: The latest from my exotic loving patron, the Audace/Ardito from Delphis Models (Italy) A standard resin kit.

The hull and most of the superstructure is molded in a single piece with some small amount of overpour and flashing to deal with. This particular resin was covered with release fluid from the molds which did not wash off well resulting in many spots in which even primer paint just lifted off with tape. (Wash these types of kits VERY well with dishwashing detergent and even bleach if necessary)

No decals or PE were provided, however, I had both from other kits which I used for the radar and railing. No major flaws or problems with the kit and it went together reasonably well considering I began this undertaking having broken both of my arms (well right scapula and left radius) just 6 weeks prior. This is the only 1/700 kit I am aware of ever being completed by a man with two broken arms.

Horizontal rigging was done with Caenis fly tying line and vertical rigging is stretched sprue. All paints are Tamiya Acrylic over Tamiya enamel primer.
