Russian Protected Cruiser Aurora, built in1900, she was at the battle of Tsushima, on the 25th October 1917 a blank shot from her fed gun signaled the assault on the Winter Palace the final phase of the October revolution.

She also was used a battery in the defense of Leningrad, although she was sunk at her moorings by German bombers

She was raised & restored 1945-47 and became a museum ship on the River Neva.

The Pictures were taken from a river cruise whilst on a visit to St Petersburg August 2011.
