IJN Kagero

INJ Kagero…

This is my build of the IJN Kagero 1943 in 1/700. The kit was Pit-Roads with Lion Roar’s IJN Kagero PE set. I could not build the PE Type 96 AA that it came with so I used Fine Molds AA. A few other details were scratch built using styrene, wire and a few parts from some generic IJN ship sets. I liked how the long lance torpedoes turned out. They are scratch built with styrene rod and paper for the fins. I used Tamiya’s IJN Kure Grey for the hull and a generic spray paint called “Spice Brown” from a craft store for the linoleum. I think the model turned out pretty good. I also lost the propellers and had to make those from scratch as well.

I've modeled ships as a teen and started the hobby again in 2005. For some reason I got into the history of the Japanese Navy at this time and started building ships of this navy. I also do N Scale model railroading, reef aquariums and a few video games.

An amazingly nice and clean build - and then in 1:700, impressive. I like how distinct and clean the different colors works, sharp. Cheers/Jan

A very nice build of a destroyer by itself, then stop and consider its 1-700 and the wow factor begins to grow. Nice job
