The INS Jalashwa (L41) (Sanskrit/Hindi: seahorse) is an amphibious transport dock currently in service with the Indian Navy. Formerly the USS Trenton, she was procured from the United States by India for USD 48 million. She was commissioned on 22 June 2007.

The Kit…

This kit started life as the JAG model of the USS Austin (or ships of that class). I have done a bit of scratch building to get her to resemble the INS Jalashwa. As is customary for resin kits, the ship comes out of the tube mostly built. The main hull and all but her upper deck and top superstructure are molded on. Molding is excellent and clean. Relatively little sanding is needed prior to painting. An excellent PE fret is included with netting and radar components. I added the Lion Roar after market Modern US ships set to add the railings not provided in the kit and a number of PE components to the superstructure and mast to reflect the modifications after being sold to the Indians. I used JAG CWIS after market parts.
