Another in my patron’s long line of unusual kits, is the JMSDF Hyuga Class DDH – ISE (DDH 182) This Skywave kit comes with resin parts and PE netting. The kit is perhaps B+ molding and finish, but really shines in the full color pictoral instructions complete with close up full color pictures of the actual ship allowing for great detailing. Also noteworthy are the decals which allow for great finishing of the helos provided. F-35’s were also provided, but were not used as I am not aware of the Japanese operating them just yet. Another nice feature of the kit is that many of the parts have unique tabs that only fit into the hull or other parts one way which keeps the modeler from making mistakes like using the wrong CWIS in the wrong spot or placing the main tower facing the wrong way. Despite the lack of PE railings or rotor blades, the kit is very well laid out and finishes nicely.
