1⁄72German E boat

As some have pointed out, the Airfix model of the "German E boat" has some dimensional issues and some details are either lacking or simply laughable. Understandably, these moulds are 40 years old. My goal, after carefully reviewing the kit, was to build it into a credible representation of the early class schnellboot S-7. Many of the kit parts were discarded and new ones built and as well as re-detailing and correcting many of the parts. The list is very long, so for those of you who know the kit, you can see the work that has been done. The ship was painted with Tamiya acrylics, washed with Humbrol oils and weathered with good old pastels. Decals and flags were corrected and printed on my inkjet printer, the roof aerial recon emblem was all airbrushed on. Kristal clear was used for glass parts as these were added after the ship was painted. Rigging is thin fishing line painted after installation. The S boat badge on the left side of the base was sculpted by me as well. I am very pleased with the results and I now move on to the next project, in this class of ship...an S-26.

Ahoy Joe
One word comes to my mind - sublime!
Subtle & balanced weathering, great detailing and superb finishing.
Having tackled this build (and yet to complete it) I fully appreciate the level of extra detailing etc. you have put into this "E-Boat".
Very, very inspiring indeed Joe.
Cheers
Sean
