IJN Akagi

The IJN Akagi survived an unconventional birth to become part of the backbone of one of the world's most formidable naval forces, of which she remained an integral part until she was crippled in the Battle of Midway and scuttled by her own fleet to prevent her capture. Beginning life as an Amagi-class battlecruiser, she underwent a long build period alongside her sister ship, the Amagi, both undergoing conversion into aircraft carriers during the 1920's. She was nearly lost in an earthquake that claimed her sister ship, surviving to carry her unique name while in service of the Imperial Japanese Navy. This build represents the Akagi in her prime, after her modernization in 1935.

Kostas used embellished Fujimi's 1/700 Akagi with their in-house photo etch set, along with a moderate (for Kostas!) amount of detail.
