IJN Takao

In the early 1930's, the Imperial Japanese Navy saw the addition of a new heavy class of cruiser that bore a distinctive resemblance to a battleship in addition to being quite heavy and heavily armed for cruisers of their time. These were known as the Takao-class cruisers, of which this ship bears the name as she was the first to be laid and launched. She was one of 4 sister ships in this class, and was the longest lived Takao-class cruiser, surviving past WWII to 1946. Two of her sister ships, the Atago and Maya, were sunk in combat while the third, the Chōkai, was disabled in combat and scuttled shortly after.

Kostas used the 1/700 Fujimi Takao as his base kit, updating it with the Flyhawk detail set.
