1⁄144Type XXIII German U-boat

Comments
The model used is the 1:144th scale Trumpeter kit of a type XXIII German U-boat. The scene is the sub being attacked by British fighter bombers. The inspiration for the diorama came from a painting shown on the back cover of the book Vom Original zum Modell: U-boot type XXIII by Eberhard Rossler and Fitz Kohl. The water is made from Balsa Foam (MDF). The balsa foam was glued to the baseboard, and then carved to shape and painted with acrylics. The background is oil paint on Gesso board. The three figures in the conning tower were created from Magic Sculpt epoxy clay on brass wire armatures.

This is a fun dio John, nice depiction of action. The painted background and scratchbuilt figures really bring it to life. In short - awesome!
