1/1250th Scale Replenishment Diorama

  • move
Kostas Katseas has put together another fine diorama, this time utilizing a few different kits to complete this excellent replenishment scene created in 1/1250th scale!!! The centerpiece would of course be the US N Nuclear Carrier Enterprise CVN-65, model no. CMP1016 from CARLO MARQUARDT High Quality Models from Germany. The USS Wisconsin, Kit no. 1300c, is from Neptun. The supply tender as well as the submarine the makers are unknown. The only plastic model kit that appears in the scene is the CG-47 USS Ticonderoga from Hobby Boss. To add an extra level of detailing to this scene, Kostas utilized 3D printed planes, the crane and tractors seen on the deck of the Enterprise. Kostas finished off the scene with another beautiful display of water simulation.

I thought that was a great-looking diorama right up until I saw the photo with the lighter in it for scale. Now I believe it is an extraordinarily fantastic dio! That is simply breath-taking.

I am also stunned by the subtlety of the weathering on the flight deck--check out the accurate wear pattern on the striping! That's difficult enough to get right in 1/350. --Karl
