a photo feature by Al Ross of a BlueJacket Ship Crafters kit

This is the static display model built from the 1/96 scale kit of the C.S.S. ALABAMAthat Al developed for Blue Jacket Ship Crafters. It is approximately 36 inches in overall length and is plank on bulkhead construction. There are several hundred laser-cut pieces, about 400 photo-etched details and around 200 cast Britannia fittings. The planking is constructed from basswood and the masts are a combination of birch dowel and brass tubing. This C.S.S. Alabama was build entirely by Al with rigging assistance from the owner of Blue Jacket Ship Crafters.
