Japanese Battleship Yamato

  • move
Chris Flodberg has been kind enough to share with us one of his latest creations; the IJN Yamato. True to form, Chris incorporates an ocean-going scene of the iconic IJN Yamato underway with one of his incredible watery bases.

Chris uses Tamiya’s newest tooling of their 1/350 scale Japanese Battleship Yamato (TAM78025). In addition to the base kit, Chris used Pontos Models detail set to enhance this kit along with some added help from Eduard and North Star…not to mention a few items form the spare parts box.

"Keen observers may note a couple of missing elements from the aft covered gun turrets that I unfortunately lost. Their nature precludes decent scratch building so I am awaiting them in the mail. Lately, I've been experimenting with different hand-painted sky backgrounds for a more realistic setting".
-Chris Flodberg

Model Shipwrights would like to thank Chris Flodberg for providing pictures of this latest creation of the Japanese Battleship Yamato.

In addition to the master water making, the deck weathering looks spot on for a well worn warship.

What a pity the IJN sent this one on a suicide mission that couldn't save them. Masterful work, Chris.
