Basilios Giehos has his way with another beautiful watery diorama. This time he shares with us his USS Lassen DDG-82 in 1/700 scale. Basilios uses a kit from Hobby Boss, the 1/700 USS Lassen DDG-82 (83412).
USS Lassen DDG-82
The USS Lassen DDG-82 is a US Arleigh Burke class destroyer. This 509 foot destroyer calls Yokosuka, Japan its home port and is still in service at the present with the US Navy.

Basilios feels this Hobby Boss kit of the USS Lassen DDG-82 to be an excellent model. He feels the parts fit very well and the detailing is sharp. This kit came with all of the necessary photo etch details, such as the mast and railing. He let's us know the kit was "Generally it was a very pleasant construction". Basilios used Vallejo paints and washes to finish this amazing diorama.

Model Shipwrights would like to thank Basilios Giehos for providing us with these photos of his USS Lassen DDG-82

Very cool! Can you explain how you made the water and spray? Very realistic for such a small scale.

Thank you for your comment! For the base of the sea and for the waves I use air dry clay which I roughen it with an old brush. I like to work with simple acrylics to paint the sea and to give the transparency with acrylic gel. And I always put a small amount of black and green in the sea colors. The water spray effect is a combination of cotton with silicone. If the sea is calm sometimes I use transparent resin for the final layer.
