Basilios Giehos takes us on a cruise in the Aegean Sea with his latest diorama; HMS Warspite at Cape Sounio, Greece 1942.

The scene depicts HMS WARSPITE rounding Cape Sounio, Greece in the shadow of the ancient temple of Poseidon. Basilos used Academy's Hms Warspite which he felt was a "very nice and qualitative model kit".

Basilos added more details using the aftermarket set from Pontos. This is an extensive upgrade comprised from 141 scribed brass, 3 photo etching sheets, 50 resin parts, wooden deck and dry transfer decal sheet. Including the parts from the Academy kit, the total parts count rises to about 1000 pieces model kit! . "The wooden decks are simply amazing without particular difficulties in their installation" .

Basilios also used figures from North Star and L'Arsenal. The camouflage has painted using Vallejo acrylics, as he always does. The planning of this diorama was made using aerial photo and some drawings of the temple, which were founded in the internet. . The temple construction was made using plastic rods and sheets from Evergreen. Basilios explains this construction of the temple as very demanding but an entertaining at the same time. The entire base scene was painted using Vallejo acrylics.

Model Shipwrights would like to thank Basilos Giehos for providing photos of his HMS Warspite at Cape Sounio, Greece 1942 diorama

Awesome, I can hear the theme from the Guns of Navarone in the background while the Warspite sails past those rocky cliffs. The Temple really came out well as did the Cruiser. Thanks for sharing, Bryan

Very well done Vasilis! The ship is very crisp, and the temple right on the money. The cotton around the ship is a bit too "free", maybe some more gloss medium will tone it down. Excellent work once more.
