A Pair Of Chinese Frigates

David Salvin shares with us one of his latest creations of a pair of Chinese Frigates in 1/350 scale.
Chinese Frigates 053H2G and 053H3
The latest from my favorite patron are a pair of Chinese Frigates, the 053H3 (hull number 528) and 053H2G (Hull number 519); both by Dream Model. These kits, in general, are relatively good. Detailing is sharp and clear, parts fit together well and the photo etch included is pre-measured for the bends you will need to make to fit to the kits. However, the BIG drawback to the photo etch is that the base metal used to manufacture it is SO fragile as to be nearly reder the parts useless. Merely cutting it off the fret will bend the railing etc. Also the H3 kit was missing some of the railing and had part number duplicates on the instructions making assembly confusing; decals were included (which was nice).
Model Shipwrights would like to thank David J. Salvin fo providing pictures of his completed Chinese Frigates 053H2G and 053H3 to us.

I think that there is a mistake regarding the scale of these models. I believe that they are actually 1/700 scale as there are no kits produced by Dream Models in 1/350 of any ship that I am aware of. These are great builds and do look larger than they are.

The P/E sounds like a disappointment. But the models look great!

Yep - 1/700. And Yep - the PE on these kits is insanely soft and difficult to work with.
