Nikos Kosmadakis keeps the dock worker busy with his latest creation, a dry-dock diorama of the U-96!
The U-96 was a Type VIIC U-Boat from Germany's Kriegsmarine during the Second World War. U-96 was commissioned on September 14, 1940. She served in four flotillas and participating in eleven patrols over her career.
Victories
27 ships sunk, total tonnage 181,206 GRT 4 ships damaged, total tonnage 33,043 GRT 1 ship a total loss, total tonnage 8,888 GRT
On February 15, 1945, U-96 was decommissioned. A little over a month later, U-96 would be sunk on the 30th of March, 1945, in the Hipper Basin at Wilhelmshaven by bombs during US air raid.
Nikos used Revell's 1/144 scale German Submarine Deutsches U-Boat Type VIIC kit. With the added Griffon Photo Etch set, a "whole lot of scratch-building" and some Vallejo paints, Nikos has created this fantastic dry-dock diorama of he U-96 under repair and preparing for it's next patrol.
Model Shipwrights would like to thank Nikos Kosmadakis for providing us with photos of his U-96 Diorama!
