1350
Moroschansk

Inspired by Kostas Katseas's outstanding works, which I do admire a lot, I tried my hands and finished my second 1:350 scale ship model. It the Orange Hobby´s new Russian Navy Tarantul III Class corvette “Moroschansk” which is in actual service these days. The kit is a gem out of resin with some very fine turned brass parts and a photo etched set and is a true joy to build. For me it was though a challenge to build as the parts are very delicate, especially the etched main radar mast.

The rigging at the radar mast was done with Uschi van der Rosten´s 0,1 mm very fine rigging wire which is like fine hair 😊. The antennas were made out of stretched sprue. I did paint it with Vallejo and Gunze colors in various steps during the build. One mistake happened which I was not able to correct: During my research I only found Russian navy ships with a red brown deck color. So I painted it with Gunze's redbrown. Short time later I did see a picture of the real “Moroschansk” ship which shows a green deck color…

After finishing I placed the boat on top of a small dio base and created a seascape with an acrylic paste. I hope you do like my second ship model in 1:350 scale which wet my appetite for more now. Looking forward for your constructive comments.

I visited the ex-East German Tarantul Hiddensee a few years back - you have captured the look of this little warrior quite well. Nice job on this build, Thomas!
