U-552

  • move
Breaking from the extreme small scale dioramas we typically have seen from him, Kostas Katseas shares his latest work with us and this comes in the form of a 1/72 scale U-Boat. Kostas created a lighted cutaway version of the Iconic U-552. The base kit is from Revell's Wolf Pack VIIC kit with scratch-building and enhancements provided from Eduard's interior and Pontos' details sets. Model Shipwrights would like to thank Kostas Katseas for sharing his 1/72 scale U-552 with us.

Superb work indeed. I love the lighting. What a jump in scales for Kostas from 1/700 to 1/72. Thanks for posting this Todd. Cheers Sean

LOL...He does jump scales all the time....numbers are actually 1/2700 scale up to 1/35 if not 1/16 with figure/bust work He has been doing some aircraft stuff lately too....same quality just a different channel!

Boy that's a beautiful build! I remember when I was in my U-boat phase, I tried to do this using the Combat Models 1/72 vac kit, but that kit broke my spirit, and it never happened LOL! Models have sure come a long way since then.

I would say the old vac kit could break the spirit! Other than needing a few upgrades, the Revell U-boats are fantastic base models...just huge! Kastas just makes it all look easy!

Really amazing work. These are not easy kits to make modern.
