I thought i would post a few pics of this British gun station, This setup would have been aboard a British war ship in the 18 century some time, its a large carronade on a sliding carriage mounted to the bulwarks. How would you like to serve aboard one of these ships as a gunner at this station, you would not be alone thats for sure there could be as many as 12 men at a station depending on the calibur and weight of the gun.

Very sweet little scene, Rob, scratchbuild?
Excellent job, if so!
Thanks for sharing, mate...

Thanks Mark. This was not scratch built it is a kit by Amati from Italy but you still have to plank the deck and the outside hull, most of the hardware including the cannon are brass but i painted them to look like iron i thought the brass was a little to bright and not accurate for that time frame.

Thanks Kenny, it was a fun build and it gave me a break from a full ship build.

Looks good! Any chance to see it from outboard?
Cheers,

Thanks Skipper here you go, although the outside view isn't much to look at just a few hull planks in walnut.

Pretty cool. I think it could use some shot though. Some beads of the appropriate size, with the hole filled and painted would be sweet.
Not sure what to do about charge cases or wads though, but they would belong too.

Thanks Redshirt, shot rack in first pic upper left hand corner. Not sure about the wads but unless they were ready to fight they would store all the powder in the magazine that stuff is a little explosive i don't think they kept it lying around.

I think I have that kit and a couple of other Amati kits in my stash from years ago. Seeing yours all built up so nicely makes me want to dig into some boxes and check them out. Thanks for the inspiration!!!

Doh, I must be going blind! Yea, you’re right, if it was ready to fire then you need a crew too… a large part of art creation is knowing when its done.
