Hi

Could anyone point me in direction to determine the colours US landing craft at Normandy were painted. They appear to be a darker blue grey colour - but there is so much choice?

Thanks
Richard

Ahoy, Richard, Welcome to Modelshipwrights, mate!

D-day landing craft, eh?
Personally, I've used Model Master acrylic "Ocean Gray" with great success, to mimic the US Navy Camouflage Measure 14 prescribed for the D-Day fleet...
Have you checked out our Features Department here at MSW? we have some extremely good LC articles HERE!

And here is a site that all ship builders should have in their bookmarks, as well...

When it comes to landing craft color, it all depends on what ship the landing craft was from. Most of the attack transports were in MS22 Navy Blue 5-N/Haze Gray 5-H camouflage which would make the landing craft haze gray.

Here's a photo of the USS Bayfield off of Utah Beach.
