Ahoy mates,

I know this has probably been discussed dozens of times but, can someone here tell me how to get dark colors into recessed lines on my model u boat XXI? I'm painting the model with Model Master enamel paints and I only brush paint, so I don't have an airbrush. I've heard about washes but I have no idea how to accomplish this.

Thanks...

Gary

Hey Gary,
No stress, mate...you have a choice on wash types, styles, methods, etc...there are many methods to choose from, and not every one works for every modeler...take a look at the features section over at the AFV side of KitMaker...read the feature titles over (there's alot of them!), there are some FANTASTIC wash articles (as well as many others that will be helpful) in the database...personally, I use an acrylic wash, to lessen the chances of damaging any of the original finish.

Thanks for the help Gunny. I have read for years about washes but I'm not sure what people are talking about exactly and how it relates to brush painting. I have tried using very thinned dark paint to highlight my models shadows but on the XXI Sub, I need to do a much finer job of darkening the already painted recesses and I'm worried about screwing up the already painted surface.

Thanks again,

Gary

Gunny, How do I accomplish an acrylic wash? Also, in the article where a India Ink + Future is discussed, what is the mix and can it be applied with a brush???

Thanks,
Gary
