Ahoy Shipmates

Completetly against local and international trends a new modelling shop has opened in Albany, Auckland, New Zealand.

Hobby City which is a pretty good shop based in the city has opened another branch on the North Shore.

http://www.hobbycity.co.nz/Soldat/Default.aspx

Locally many of the modelling shops have been struggling and the last developments were closures.

So this exciting and positive news.

But wait theres more. I have decided that the modelling gods are truly shining upon me perhaps as a reward for finishing a model.

Why is that?

Well the shop has opened in the building right next door to my work. Less than a hundred yards from where I am sitting right now.

While it has just opened it is in a brand new shop which has sat empty for over two years and is situated at the rear of a petrol station forecourt. Hence I did not notice its opening on 1 November until I saw an advertisement last night in the newspaper.

The modelling gods have truly blessed me this day.

I will check it out and keep you all duly informed.

Cheers

The closest LHS to me is about 90 minutes away. So I am very lucky, because my will power is rotten. Although last time I was there I did not buy Dragon's Leopold, but I did get a nice Panzer IV.

Boss - "Where's Sean?"

Co-worker - "On break."

Boss - "He's not in the break room."

Co-worker - "He now takes his breaks at Hobby City."

So true you guys.

Kenny you know me too well.

Here is my wifes email response when I told her this morning I had found the new model shop and told her how close it was to my work:

"It sounds way too convenient that the model shop is so close. Danger Danger."

LOL

I just had to share LOL

Cheers

Wow, you have been blessed If there was a really good one by me it would be hard for me to not go down and spend hours looking and thinking. Best of luck.

Now, as the "Creative Services" supervisor, I can go to Hobby Lobby and cruise around there because it has art supplies.

Thou art truly blessed. Must have been all those tiny parts that you have been sacrificing to the altar of the modeling gods, otherwise known as the carpet monster. I have a number of choices as to which way I drive home each night, and no matter which I choose there is either a Hobby Lobby or a LHS I can "drop by" just to check them out. My will power is constantly being tested.

Out in Buena Park California, about a mile from Knotts Berry Farm and a few miles from Disneyland is a small mini mall of shops collectively called Hobby City. I used to ride my bike there as a kid. Hopefully the good karma from the name will keep the store in your part of the world going strong.

Ahoy Shipmates

As promised I scouted it out yesterday its a bright and spacious store as compared to their Auckland store. Good prices, friendly staff and pretty well stocked.

A good supply of ship models.

It dont get much better a model shop right next door to your work.

Cheers

Hi Sean!

I am happy for you! I use to have a modelshop about five minutes walk from my old house! Not big, but good, friendly owners, met a lot of my current friends there, and we started a model club
One thing I have to say, I miss on LHS near where I live now

Cheers

It's always nice having a LHS close by.
I hope you'll support them for those everyday needs.
I pick up all my paints, glues and many do dads at my two local shops, along with several kits during the year.
