Hi -I have a question, and apologize in advance if this is the wrong board to ask it.
I have until now built only subs, specifically U boats. I have an interest in early battleships, such as moniter/merrimac types ,etc.
I was looking at Zvezdas Borodino class ships in 1:350,are they a good mold?
Does anyone have any recomendations on a kit in this category?I have seen cottage industrys stuff, but cant afford to spend $250.00 on a kit.

I have Zvezdas Kniaz Suvorov and while I have yet to build it, she looks like a nice kit. However, she and her sisters are a completely different type of ship from USS Monitor or Virginia. If you are looking for Civil War era Ironclads, you could go with Verlinden's line of resin Ironclads in 1/200th scale. While they are resin, and limited in number of pieces, they require some modeling skill (especially in painting/detailing) and build up into nice ships.

Thanks.....I know I could build them..I have experience with resin ,P/E ,and Vac...Im just a little unsure of the waterline thing.....total newbie to ships....into armour and u boats and biplanes....I just like that old feel of these ships....Glencoe did a neat ship ,but I hear its a bear to build
The Kniaz looks cool on the boxart, and I see White Ensign has P/E available, but am unsure about dropping the coin..
