Well all, its finished sans the display base, but that will follow shortly. I took lots of mental notes for the next time I decide to tackle one of these, which by the way will be the other Type VII Revell offered in 1/72. Just gotta love all those guns. Will probably not add a lot to it except for some PE and maybe, just maybe some white metal guns. Anywho, here she is. The markings are ficticious, just a decal I found in the spares box. These things are a royal P.I.T.A. to photograph!! Thanks for all the comments, suggestions and encouragement. "Q"

Hi Matthew

At a first glance:
- don't forget the cables for the deck raillings;
- rust streaks at the diagonal bow flooding holes / and bow horizontal (three holes);
- flag is too stiff;
- need a little bit more exhaust stain;
- deck hatches need a little more weathering - too new for heavy duty area.

These are the only points that I have noticed that could be improved - the rest, and even if it is a fiction u-boot, is TOP NOTCH!
Congratulations Matthew!
Cheers,
Skipper

Rui, thanks for the comments. I guess I forgot to do the one sides rust stains on the forward flood holes. THere are so many I guess I just missed them. Easy fix though. The guard rail lines are the same thing. Don't know why the hatches look so new in the pic as they pretty much mimic the rest of the boat. I'll look at those a little closer. Not sure what to do about the flag. Might try to remove it and fix it to some lead sheet and reshape it. I planned on hitting the exhaust with my airbrush again as I used pastels for the exhaust and you're right, it needs more. Thanks. "Q"

Well, I went back and corrected the shortcomings that were pointed out to me by Skipper. Thanks, I added the cables to the railings, gave the flag a little more droop, well, as much as I could without it falling to pieces, and touched up the forward flooding holes on the port side. I also was able to get the new base for it made and the boat attached. Now I'm just waiting on a repo sub combat badge, and a brass name plate to go with it to finish it off. Here is what the base looks like now. Thanks. "Q"

Bravo Zulu!
Beautiful job Matthew. I would love to see how you did the rusting. That is something that I struggle with every time.

Could you expound on what paints and colors you used and how you accomplished the weathering? That is fantastic!
