I was just over at the Campaign page, and the banner looks great! (I really need to make one for my campaign.) For some reason, the Campaign Ribbon is a Red "X". That's a step I guess. I can't even get mine to load.

Hi there,

Ran across this one purely by accident (saw Jim's banner [hehehehe, snicker....]) over on the "green" side, read the rules, and have signed up. I'll be submitting the Italeri LTV(A)-1 Alligator with some PE. Nice to be able to wonder over to the "blue" side on occasion.

I've been bouncing around trying to decide what to build for this campaign, but I think I'll build the JMSDF Shimokita:

As you can see, it can be built with a transparent deck so you can see all of the vehicles inside, including the two large hovercrafts in back that can deliver vehicles to shore in amphibious operations...

Hey Dade,

Is that clear rear deck? Interesting. Be nice to see a close up of this one completed.

hello all,
@Dade,
good looking kit, i know you will make it a great kit judging by your other builds.
@Mike,
it looks like a clear deck to me.

looking over my build,USS Boxer LPH-4 comes with either a solid or clear deck.i am thinking about making her with the clear deck and have Marine Amphib vehicles,harriers and choppers in the bays.what do you guys think?
cheers,
Bruce

The USMC Landing Craft/Air Cushion LCAC would work right?

Sounds goofy, but I saw an episode of Military channel about the craft , just loved it! and today I see the Trumpeter 1:144 LCAC (USMC and oJMSDF) on sale at Squadron for $18.... so tempting! I read one good review about this kit...anyone has any experience with this kit?

Thanks for the invite Bruce
And hello All, this is shaping up to be an awsome build.
Im thinking of doing a Dio of the invasion of Tarawa with a Alligatore as the focus, or I just might do a Sherman or Churchill at Normandy.
So many options, this will be a blast.
Lets see what Ft Benning has in store for me at the museum, Im here for a week anyhow.

hello Todd,
remember that the campaign is about getting everything to the beach.i like your idea of the Tarawa landing with the Alligator,that would look awesome.
i am doing a 1/700 LPH-4 USS Boxer,and i think i am going to get some LC's and Helo's to go with it.maybe even do some water effects.
take a look at the Campaigns that are running and will start this year.you might find some other campaign's you might like to join.we try to make the campaigns very unusual on the wet side.
cheers,
Bruce

I have a quick question:
I have never done any of these campaigns and was looking for some guidance. I really couldn't start my build until March - This is ok right? Also can the model be done for any period that that ship was commisioned? The reason I ask this is I have a JAG 1/700 Newport Class LST that I was thinking of doing and I was going to outfit it the way it was when I served on it in the late 80's. If all of this is cool then I will sign up.

Thanks for you help

Yes, you can start in March. As long as your build is fits into the Gator navy theme you can build your ship to any period.

All right I am all signed up.

I will be doing the JAG 1/700 Newport Class LST modeled after LST-1197, USS Barnstable County, the way she looked when I was served on this great Gator Freighter.

I'm still ready and hanging tight....

Still doing the Italeri LTV(A)-1 Alligator with Eduard PE and I've added a set of Accurate Armor tracks.
