Hello all,
I've been reading about the Bismarck and it's first and final voyage, and I have to admit, ships start to attract me. (Though besides a submarine and a wwii bomber, a battleship would be the worst place to be... Naval battles seem to be especially murderous.)
I'd like to know more about these ships, and the way they were constructed. Wikipedia gave a brief insight how the armor was constructed, how the armament was placed, but it left me wanting for more. Are there any good websites detailing a structure of a battleship, the differences between the different classes, the strategy and tactics of naval warfare, and so on? Would you please recommend a few?
(Of course now the Hood, Bismarck, Tripitz and other battleships and cruisers are on my wish-list, as well... Not that the list wasn't long enough.)
Thanks.

Andras.

Here's another link for you that may provide some insight and offers some selected images of US Navy ships.

Thanks guys
You have been the most helpful. I get to reading, then. Especially the structure, and the armor is interesting. (I used to think these ships weren't armored save for a thick steel skin...) Hard to imagine what kind of training and discipline is needed to make these giants function as one entity. Especially when the shells started flying. It must have been hell working inside, not knowing when the ship would go down with you in it...
(I used to be interested only in airplanes, then this whole tank-craze started, and not this... I just have to get one of those 1/350 Tamiya Bismarcks...)
