Just finishing up my first model in years. What do you think?

I know it's not as good as any models posted here, but I'm new at this and would appreciate feedback.

Fixed the link for ya!

Also welcome to MSW! It is always good to see new shipmates reporting aboard. Nice looking boat as well.

Hy Ryan,

Good looking boat, nicely postured cutting through the waves. If I can make one suggestion, it would be to take the water effects to the edge of the base, and to possibly paint the edge of the base with a dark colour to give it a more polished look.

Look forward to seeing more of your work,

Frank

Is this the Revel kit? Why no decal?

Nice ship.

I did not want to model the PT 109 exactly, but just an average Elco 80'. This gav me the freedom to detail as I saw fit. Putting a measure paintjob that was normally reserved for large ships on the PT boat.

But I did use decals, the American flag is made up of two decals pressed together, glued to the flag post.

There are some nice cloth flags out now, incase you want to upgrade your PT.

Hello & welcome.
Nice build, like the splashing wave effect that you have done, keep up the good work.

Waves look great, combined with that "rakish angle" of the boat leaping thru the surf..VERY action/alive. I agree that the waves to the edge would be nice, but there is also an unconventional "artsy" thing to just partial, adds to the model/captured/breakout feel - but I might just paint the un-watered base a deep blue...

very cool, can you post some detail pix?

Flags - thanks golden - AMP have a 1:35 PT flag now - previously #2 was 75% suspected to be PT size, now confirmed with actual flags.
