Ahoy mates!

Seals Models stopped by the news room to show off their latest 1/700 gems, this time from the pre-dreadnought era. Check it out.

Hobby Link Japan lists the Asama as in stock now. Look under the manufacturer name of Interallied. According to HLJ, these two kits have been out since 2004.

Well, I can only say that Seals Models are some of the best, if not the best plastic ship models in 1/700 scale
Neck to neck with PitRoad/Skywave

Interesting subjects, considering that they are a small japanese company, where 99.9% of their listings is... japanese oriented!

Highly recommended if you want to have some nice pre-dreadnoughts in your collection

They seem to be converting their resin/white metal kits into injected plastic. I have their Itsukushima/Hashidate kit (I was working on an in-box review of it at one time) and was hoping they would convert their Matsushima as well. They did offer all three ships in a kit but it used the resin Matsushima so the price was quite high.

Hi Bruce

From a japanese pre-dreadnought that I have, IJN Takasago (from Modelkrak), it is 16.5 cm that is 6" and a half... so I guess that these should be similar in size.
I think that you should give it a try

I really like Seals Models. Rui is right about the quality- Seals is made up of a bunch of former PitRoad guys, so you know you're getting good stuff!

Needless to say I'll be picking up these kits too.

Seals Models are very good. The only concern would be the softness of the plastic and the fragility of the plastic masts. Definitely will have to replace the mast parts with brass if any rigging is to be done... Definitely a must to have.

Hey- I went into my stash to check my inventory, and I actually already built the Sealsmodels Tokiwa! Is this a re-issue?

Hi Bob

Yes probably! Seals Models are always limited editions, so you probably got a Tokiwa from the first batch (with no FLASH!)
;)

Cheers,
Rui
