Interesting. I did not know that the American Navy also has a "Jack". Does the name "Jack" refer to the mast it's flown from, as it does in the case of the Union Jack? (Which touches on a different subject of annoyance, the continued referral to the Union Flag as Union Jack, when it's not flown from a Ship... but I digress )
