VERY NICELY done sir. Indeed. I like the look of the 40mm Mark III and the 20mm on the Mark X mount!

Bob Cicconi did a model of the USS ICEFISH from Revell's USS LIONFISH kit using the Nautilus Models' upgrade kit. He did a surperb job on it - even though he says it wouldn't win anything - I disagree ........

He just finished a model of U-84 for me from the Revell U-99 kit ... He used some items from Nautilus Models and some scratch-built stuff too and did even a better job on it than he did on the ICEFISH (if that's possible) ... I've only seen pictures of it because he's taking it to the IPMS Nationals ... but I'm amazed at his work.

Thanks Mates!

I dream of a Type VII c .... so far I have a XXIII in the mail as my next project...

Small updates - reached the stage where small things take forever

Crew is done, heres a sample of my very modest work - well if I cant see em“ - nobody else can

Decided to open the doors aft in the fairwater - I havent seen any wartime Gatos fitted with those doors, propably a addition made for exibition af surviving museumboats to keep the crowd from crawling all over the place ... anyway - away they went .

Invested in WEM“s small update for radars etc. nice little fret that takes care of the most pressing needs on the superstructure - too bad it lacks ringsights for the guns, that would have made it a perfect etch for me. Both early and late gear is included so you can use it for allmost any era and boat. So theres some leftovers for the next Gato

Nice! I love those workhorse subs from WWII; so much character. You've done an especially nice finish job so far. It'll look awesome with the figures on board! I was just commenting in another thread about how I can hardly work in 1/72 scale anymore- I feel your pain.

Ok, gotta admit it, this is at a crawling speed at the moment, but the build has reached the "small details and fiddly stuff" stage, so thats the way it is.

Cabels and stuff on the mast:

Real nice build - 1 tiny tip- "white" hats were not white durring the war - on board ships and subs underway they wore blue "white "hats Trust me after 10 yrs. in the Navy -the white hat is a pain in the butt to keep clean - I'm just glad we usually wore a ships ball cap and only had to wear the damn things on watch in port!

Hi John,

Thanks, I“ll look into fixing that - good point.

If you really want to go to town with this model, you can more or less spend the rest of your life doing it....

Anyway, the model is done otherwise (aside for the "white" hats) and only miss some decent photoes, wich have proved quite difficult to do - aminly because of the size of this beast - gotta try again ....

Took the model to a show the other day - got first in ships and best of show - so I guess the judges don“t know about white vs. blue hats

Cheers/Jan
