A very nice and goodlooking build, looking farward seeing it on the base.

Hi Kenny,

You're doing a heck of a job on that bad boy, or should I say girl, since this is the "Forgotten Sisters" build?

Looking forward to seeing it populated and on the water.

Thank you guys. I put a wash on the deck and gave her a coat of flat clear tonight. I also got my figures in today and I have put a coat of flat white on them. Should I keep the uniforms white or make them tan? It's hard to tell from the late war photos.

I would say tan - besides I don´t think white will look convincing in that scale.

Second from left looks to have white pants.

Hi Kenny

You can make it just like in the photo:
The first guy standing on the right side is wearing white
The second from the left (standing) is wearing mixed (trousers white, jacket tan)

You can play a little with these mixes and all tan and all white to give some color and attention to details or action zones

Hi Guys,

Gator, she's looking super!

This thread answers my question: should I review the Tamiya 1/350 I-400 sub?

Here's another update. Taking Rui's advice, I put a wash on the deck. I'm using a new product by Games Workshop. It's a line of washes from their Citadel paint line. You brush it on and let it dry. I comes in several colors.

The entire model has been done in the black wash.

Here are the figures ready for the sepia colored wash.

I know that there are some fine wash products out there, but I just can't get those to work for me.

Hi Kenny

Looking good! And the figurines too - you have BIG PENCILS AT HOME
As for the better materials, we use what we like and feel comfortable with (at least I do!)

I know you're on a schedule for it, but we expect (at least) a MOD on your I-Monster
Keep up

Thanks guys. I'm trying to get her wrapped up today. I've got the aircraft and some modest rigging to do.

Wow Kenny,

Can't wait to see some more pictures when you get some time, she surely came out nice.

The IJN colors on the second plane on the base is an excellent touch.

I'll take some time to take photos tomorrow. We just got in from the Lafayette contest. Business was decent. The I-401 took 3rd to two German midget subs. It also took the Best Japanese Theme award.

No photos on the event Rui. I was at my vendors table all day. Mark, I'll get you a batch of photos as soon as I get my replacement stars and bars. My home made ones were kinda on the weak side. I just ordered a set of 1/350 Trumpeter Corsairs with the stars and bars from Squadron.
