Hello folks,

I'm up to do my first ship model for ages. I choose Trumpeter's USS Hornet in 1/700 scale in configuration for the Doolittle mission.

Besides it seems to be a nice liitle kit oob, i wonder if anyone can recommend on PE-sets for finer detail. PE crew figures are already set.

Thx.

Hello Patrick,

White Ensign Models makes a 1/700 PE set for Enterprise/Hornet. (it was probably made for the Tamiya kits but will work for the Trumpeter kit)) The number is 755. You get railings, radar, Crane, ladders, LSO netting, 20mm guns/shields and1.1" guns. It should have everything you need for your Hornet build.

Thx for the comments.

I somehow like the Gold Medal one, but I think I will decide upon availability here in Germany.

The WEM fret is OK, but the instructions are not very detailed, and some of the parts are undersized (the Tamiya kits are underscale), yet it has much to commend it. The Trumpeter kit, however, has significant problems anyway. Do your best.
