Hi Rui

Thanks for the answer. I will have to find something else. I will try to stick to 1/35 scale which limits my options, but it should still be possible to find something

Hi Jesper...

A camouflaged Seehund midget submarine?
Just teasing you... but still, a good option

I've had the Tamiya Fletcher siting on the shelf for some time now, so, demonstrating a complete lack of imagination and/or initiative, I'll paint her in the 1942 Ms 12 Modified scheme. Now, off to order some PE accessories - oh, and move to Hawaii before I commence the build!

I'm in!

I'll do IJN light cruiser Kiso (Tamiya 1/700), one of only two Japanese light cruisers ever to wear camo. The Kiso worn her camo for the Aleutians campaign. I've got a set of Tom's PE inroute for her as well.

I might do the USS Cushing as well, also in 1/700.

In the corner of my workshop sits the huge box with a 1:72 Revell type VII C, Brass, resin, referances, prints and pictures are slowly filling up to box - I can hardly wait for the campain to kick off

Greets all,

As luck would have it, after a 15+ year hiatus without building anything naval, I am currently waiting for kit and paints for a USS North Carolina, measure 32, design 18D (second version) cammo.

Particulars:

Enlisted - yes.
1/350 Trumpeter Kit: arrived, finally!
Lion Roar PE: already arrived. PE tool is also here.
Paints: arrived.

Waiting on Gator's mask and glue to get here.

Not only have I not built a model in almost 2 decades, but this will be my first airbrush-painted model ever, and my first use of PE. I may be too ambitious for my own good, but this campaign may be just what I need to keep me going and finish the model. My rusty modeling skills in general, and lack of PE skills in particular, may not produce the best-looking battleship, but if the photos of my build show an ugly ship... it is Dade's fault! His Kongo brought me back to modelling, something I loved to do, and something I am able to (surprisingly) share with my 15-year old son. I owe you one for that Dade.

I will take a good look at the Gator products, since there are several mentions of them in the forums... might be of help for a n00b like me. EDIT: I did take a look, and ordered both painting mask and glue. Will post a report on their use in the build log.

Also, did the North Carolina have blast bags on the 16" rifles? I can't see any in the few photos I have of her. If they were used, does anyone make them in 1/350 or would I have to scratch build?

Please bear with me on this one... I will have far more questions than photos on my build log :S And any advice anyone cares to give would be REALLY appreciated.

I do believe that she did have blast bags. I have no idea if someone makes them in 1/350 or not but I can only image that someone does.

Having found some much better pictures than the ones I had in a website, her bags are black (or some very dark color, and not "fluffy" (for a lack of a better term) at all. Sort of sunken might describe them. At this point I am tempted to simulate them with painting a ring of black paint around the base of the 16" rifles and leave it at that. Not accurate, I know, but it may be enough for my current skill level.

Thanks a lot for checking, though. I really appreciate it
