Ahoy Bruce!

The hull below the waterline was coated with an anti-fouling mixture that was called “Copperoyd”; commonly known as “Hull Red” by most modelers (about the same color as Automotive red primer )...

hello Mark,
all the info i have been finding is that the color is more of a muddy brown/red/copper.so i was hoping that there was a paint called copperoyd.and it was only used on the PT Boats.all the other ships used an antifouling red paint(Norfork red antifoul for the most part).so i am at a lost of what the color would have been.and with all the photo's i have seen being in B/W it is hard to tell.the "color photo's" of the era are not the best per say color,as we have today.
i know that this might be nitpicking, but i want to take my modeling to the next level.and i have seen that the best ship modeler's do a ton of research before they even start to do a build.
thanks for the help.
cheers,
Bruce

Hi Bruce,

WEMCC US14, Norfolk 65A Anti-fouling Red is a close match, IMHO.

Hi Bruce,

Well, I suppose 4 tins, might be enough, of course, that all depends on just how big your current project may be.....

I normally use FLOQUIL Oxide Red for 'copperoyd', which is the manufacturer's name for this paint.
