I would love one!
But at 1/35 scale you are going to need some room to park the thing when it is finished.
I calculate:
length - 100 cm. / 39.37 inches
beam - 14.5 cm. / 5.74 inches
Of course, someone will build one into a dockside diorama, with a BR 52 loco pulling gondolas and flatcars, several Opel Blitz trucks, 20 mm. and 37mm. light flak everywhere, kubelwagens, sidecar BMWs, a dockyard crane, and maybe an 88 mm. A.A. and Sd.kfz.7 to fill an empty space.

Well, I am pretty safe in saying this. Building once would be a total treat, but I am going to be passing.
Somebody surely will build the whole dockside scene. Lucky dogs!

It will make for the ideal RC conversion. Am waiting for baited breath for this one to come out!

This is the kind of craft my father is into so I'm sure he'll get one.
Italeri has posted pictures of some of the design process of the kit:

This is going to be one VERY special kit! Many of us have been waiting a long time for this release. It drives me nuts that a quality manufacturer like Italeri can't give a more precise release date for this or any of their planned kits. I realize there are production delays and other unanticipated glitches that arise but it would be nice to get the word from the manufacturer rather than from Great Models Webstore announcing that they are taking pre-orders.
Speaking of which, Squadron Mail Order posted today (10/15/08) this kit as a "New" item. I don't know whether or not they actually have the kit in stock. They are about $50.00 more than GMW's pre-order price of $175.00. It will be interesting to see which of these two giant mail order outlets gets the kits and ships them out first.
P.S. Does anyone have any "market intelligence" regarding the release of Italeri's PT Boat Crew in 1/35th for their big Elco boat? THAT will be a nice addition to an already outstanding kit.

this is going to be a nice kit .
This biggest problem with this model is to try and share the shelf space with
a PT boat

There is a post over on ModelBoatMayhem of a member getting his S-100 kit today & saying it appears to be a challenging build.
Our regional distributor here in China is selling them direct for $167.00 with stock expected in early December. I can't wait!
