Hi.

I just want to make a couple of comments on that model of PT-328 which is in FSM.

Two things about that model that are incorrect;

The color of the torpedoes and their warheads. It appears that the gentleman utilized the color drawing of PT-328 from my PT BOATS IN ACTION book as a guide in his painting the model.

I've since discovered that how I instructed Squadron to paint that drawing was totally wrong. The bodies of the torpedoes should be in natural metal and the warheads should be either Gray, or the base color of the scheme or painted to match the surrounding area ...

Also, there was no boot stripe (waterline) on the boats ... man - did I screw that up.

this does bring up a question though. i've seen many modelers paint the torpedo body a brass color and other paint it natural metal, like steel. which would be more accurate? i would think the natural metal, but i by no means am an expert.

I believe ........... or to be more accurate sir, as I've been told ... that brass-ish color that you think you see on the torpedoes is created by the grease that was smeared on the torpedoes by the crews.

Natural Metal WOULD BE your SAFEST bet.

Hello Bill, like they used to say in the Old West," Hanging is too good for the Varmint!". I think a mere Keel-haul is all that is required for a First Offence. Just kidding, Garth, mistakes happen and I like it when someone owns up to having made one. That is a rare thing these days. Al

Too rich for my blood, I fold. I see you're from Connecticut. I live in New York, just over the border from Sherman, and near New Milford. Are you anywhere near there? Have you gone to any of the local area shows? IPMS Igor Sikorsky in Stratford isn't having a show this year, but the Hudson Valley Historical Miniatures Guild (HVHMG) just had their show in Poughkeepsie, NY., and AMPSEAST was held in Danbury several weeks ago. Al,

Nope, I'm over in the northeastern corner, in Ellington.

Dated a girl named Nicole from New Milford in college 'back in the day' though ... she married a Marine officer who just retired ...

Stratford is a little too far for my brother to drive me for a model show, though I'd like to see it.

Ok, can I piggy back a question in here? How far up does the anti-fouling red supposed to go in the Revell PT 109 ? The instructions have it REAL low, this is my current build masked for painting:

Is it too low? thanks!

Garth, Wings & Wheels is an IPMS chapter in Springfield,Ma. They hold their show, Valleycon, in the spring in Chicopee, Ma. I don't know if this is any closer to you? Their next one is on March 29,2009. You might try them, if you haven't already? Al La fleche is a member of that club, and he posts regularly in these forums. Their club website is www. wwmodelclub.org/, If I don't see you at a show I'll be seeing on-line. Al
