I am curious to know the possibility of converting Trumpeter 1/350 San Francisco to New Orleans circa May 1942.

I know of two changes, but there may be more. You'd need to change the turret face shape. Look two photos below this one and compare to this one. Additionally, the signal platform level isn't enclosed behind the armored conning tower like the way San Franciscos was, so you'll probably need to scratch build a new level at least. Compare this picture to this one.
I don't have plans for the NO boat so I'm not sure what other subtleties might exist.

Thanks Tracy, I see the differences, I wonder if anyone makes the turrets? I think I can scratch build the bridge areas.
