The Aoshima Takao and Trumpeter Hood are both excellent models on their own. These comprehensive Flyhawk PE and brass sets will surely dress them up nicely.
Thanks for the news Sean.

Oh yeah, I can already hear my wallet and bank account screamin' "UNCLE" over those two WWII sets all right.
But there is something to be said for having an all in one PE set for a kit, saves having to reference more than one to accomplish a project.
Thanks for the heads up.

WOW!
That pretty much says it all. The extent of the PE makes it look like a 350 kit, but its 700. Looks like the bar has been really pushed up with these.

Flyhawk made a really nice set for the Takao in 1/350 and I was curious when a 1/700 version would appear. Very nice! I'm very interested in the modern Kongo set- it's nice to see how Flyhawk corrected the slightly incorrect shape of the kit's super structure with a nice big brass replacement!
For any who may have missed it and want to get a more detailed look at how amazing Flyhawk sets are, read my review of their 1/700 Yamashiro set HERE...
These guys are really right up there with Lion Roar as my favorite PE makers.

Looks great.. how do you guys decide which set to use? WEM? LiorRoar? Flyhaws? Eduard? TMM? Based on content, price, quality? I have yet to fully grasp why some PE sets differ so much in price from others (for the same kit). Thanks for the news, cheers

James,
For me it is the quality of the set. I have two sets of ladders. One set looks dead on while the other looks a little over simplified. One of course cost more than the other. For some of the smaller detail frets it is easier to get a couple different types and see which one looks better and is easier to work with.
As for over all ship sets, I cannot answer as well. I have only bought a couple of these and hot had the chance to compare the same ship set from two different makers.
