Hi Guys, I was just about to pack up the Bedfords for safe keeping and I relaised I hadn't married the truck up to the LCM 3. A few pics of what it might look like.

Just on the ramp is the most likely.

A couple of the boat, I shall have to tone down the rusty areas sometime.

The finished article will look tremendous.
Your right about the rust, and the rope laying on one of the boxes (by the port side ventilator)will need some attention as well.
While I'm typing...do you remember giving me the nudge about the colour of Brit battledress and putting me onto Vallejo?
Well if you fancy a near match to avoid things looking too 'uniform' try Vallejo 70873 US Field drab!

Hi Kenny and Tom,

Thanks for dropping in and the comments.

Tom, the stores, figures are all still free standing as things are always subject to change at this stage and the boats are stored in boxes normally while things develop. I always thought I went a bit OTT with the damage on this one, so must tidy it up a little, probably when I finally change the anchor to a slightly smaller version and hang the fire bucket lol, lol.

Thanks for the heads up on the US Field Drab, I'll check that out as the Canadian troops had a slightly different colour of battledress, so that may prove useful.

Cheers

Morning Bruce,

Thanks, yes I finally got around to making loads for the back of them both.

also for the 2nd one

I've opened the box on the 2nd goods wagon and started some water experiments to check out how to 'make water' so although slow things are still progressing.

I'll post any updates as they happen.

Hi Alan

Those Bedford trucks look top notch, as usual from you
It would be interesting to see some seasick faces on those landlubbers
Keep up - the massive work has a finishing schedule date?

Hi Skipper and Murdo,

Thanks guys. Just started work on the 25 Ton Goods Break Wagon the 2nd of the rail wagons and experiments with water have commenced.

One problem I was always going to face with the water was fumes. Being in a flat on the second floor and no 'shed' lol, lol. I'll be working at crerating ripples, waves and motion. I have tried out some products that should seal the base and allow me to build a sea bed on top. The woodlands scenic water can be built up very slowly to gain depth and I'm experimenting on how it reacts to paints, texture and that type of thing. This is completely new to me so I have a fair sized board to experiment on. The reason I've start with this is it's non toxic so I can work away at it inside without fear poisoning myself or the wife lol, lol

Once I'm happy I can actually make the water work for me I can think about laying a few blocks for the pier walls. Time wise I alwasy envisaged the best part of 5 years to build up my skills and knowledge to make a decent dio. I'm about 3 years into that plan now but I'm still hoping to get it finished within that time frame. Once I have got a good understanding of how I will do the water, things might pick up a bit of speed. There are a host of accessories, figures and stuff still to be finalised, some corrections to make on the boats, so 2 years is probably about right.

There will have been too much time, money and effort invested in it to rush ahead and cock it up, just to say it's done lol, lol.

That kinda makes sense to me.

Skipper I haven't given up on the idea of an X Craft either!!! lol, lol

Keep you posted.

hello Alan,
the Bedford's and Figures look great.i found something to use for water called Magic Water,it is resin based.you just melt it down and pour is.it hardens to a clear water. you can tint it with acrylics, enamels, etc.i am going to use it for the Divine Water Campaign later this year and will post how it does.
thanks for the update and i now now that i will get to see your work for the next 2 years.
cheers,
Bruce

Alan, is this for Pier 51?

If so then it must take up a fair sized car park by now.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the info, let me know how it works out. Apologies it's such a long haul but i'm learning as I go.

Murdo,

- I have aquired a slightly larger table to house it!!. The other build issue I've been thinking about is building it by sections, it might be the only realistic way to move it as it has grown since originally conceived as a small project to learn to use water That of course has it's own issues!!
