A few pics of my Liberty ship and the base i started, as most of you know i don't do plastic model ships but after seeing all the great builds here i broke down and thought i would give it a try. All comments welcome and any advice you guys have would be great so with a little luck this may just turn out decent.

Thanks Karl, the clear base is for a 1/24 scale model car and this is also the first time i tried to make a water base for a ship i used foil and painted it blue and it needs another base coat and some highlights, i also wanted to put some churned up water around the hull but haven't been able to get to the store for some acrylic gel because there is 6 to 8 inches of snow that just fell in New York.

Thanks Kenny, i still have a lot to learn and a long way to go, i have already sprayed a second coat of blue on the base with my air brush and it looks a lot better now i have also started adding more scratch built details to the ship i will post an update in a few days.

A couple of pics of my progress so far, i added some rigging and airbrushed a second coat of blue to the base, i also painted the entire ship dark gull grey with a little white added to lighten it a bit and painted just above the water line black.

Thanks Jim, my next step is to mask of the very bottom of the hull and paint it red below the black stripe than i will glue it to the base and work on the water.

A quick little update, i added some blue green color to the water base and glued the ship down and used red spot putty for the wake of the ship, i also painted the red strip at the water line but most of it will not be seen under the putty wake.

Couple of update pics of the finished water i am pleased with the way it came out and it really seams to make a big difference in the way the model looks, next i will do a little weathering while am waiting for the PE set to arrive and add the life boats.

Your wave/water looks great, maybe a little more white and waves aft?

Time for another update i added a little more rigging painted the inside of life boats red and added a lot more high lights to the wake all around i also gave the entire ship a black pin wash and a few rust streaks, i am now at a stand still until the PE set shows up so i can add the railings.
