Ahoy shipmates,

could someone tell me where I can find a vendor who sells the type of fenders german uboats used during WWII. It does not matter what material they are made from. I plan to use them in a dockside diorama.

Thank You!

Hi Ernest,

Mark has put up a little guide, remember that the IIA allso had one at the stern

I know that theres a company doing them commercially, but I dont think they have anything for subs in 1:72 - but you might use some of the other products http://thachweave.tripod.com/products.htm

Cheers/Jan

Thanks for the referral, Jan...

Ernest, the process may look a bit complex, but after you make one or two, becomes quite easy...and in 1/72, should be a breeze, mate...if you do give it a go and run into any snags, contact me via e-mail and I'll try to help you out...get as many reference shots as you can get your hands on, gather up your supplies, and start experimenting!

Hi Jan, thank you for the links. I will look at Mark's guide, might be a good time to learn a bit of weaving anyway!

Sincerely,
Ernest

Hi Gunny(Mark), thank you for the offer to help out if I have questions after reading your guide. By the way, are you a current or retired Marine? I just retired on 01 Jan after 25 years as a Soldier. It sure went by fast. Again, thank you for the offer to help!

Sincerely,
Ernest
