Really nice. It looks very lively with all the different areas of action. Can you post some closeups of the build. I would like to see the details.

A masterpiece all-round: excellent construction, composition of elements, water effects, and capturing the look of a boat getting ready for patrol. A historic slice-of-life.

Fantastic work, Giovanni...
As Kenny above has stated, this model is screaming for a MOD ("Model On Display") feature, if you're up for it...If you can find a big enough background (that dio is HUGE! ), snap us a batch of images, (all different angles, views, close-ups etc), and e-mail them to one of our Editors, mate...
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Giovanni,

this is absolutely great work you have made. A lot of details and every time looking at it I discover new things....Just like I just noticed a mortar on the front of the ship near the life-jacket. This surprised me a bit. Did they use mortars on board of ships?

That's a beautiful build, Giovanni. You should be proud. Lots of interest on that deck.

Jelger

Hello Jelger, Mortars were used on PT boats whenever they could be "acquired" from the Army or Marines. They were mainly used for firing illumination and smoke rounds, as well as the occasional shore bombardment. Al

A very nice diorama sir.

Very well done.

Just a historical side-bar comment - not to take away anything from your obvious skill - but the 659 was a Higgins PT boat built for the Russians but never delivered to them.

Also, the torpedo warheads were either painted to match the base color of whichever camouflage scheme the boat was in or were painted to match whichever area of the scheme they were in front of.

BUT it is a VERY GOOD diorama.

Hi to everyone, just read your messages, have had some problems with my net connections, but now i'm back to say thanks for all the inspiring messages. it feels good to know that some people appreciate this kind of craft. I'll try to post some detailed and close-up pics , coz as of now the dio resides in a private collection. Regards

Love your diorama Giovanni. Nicely done. I'm impressed with your sailor figures. Can you tell me more about them? Are they stock figures or did you scratch build them or convert them?
