U 217 was a "D" - minelayer is that correct ?
As far a I can see i should be 3 nuances of gray - the buttom hull is a dark gray, upper hull is a very light gray with sharp dark gray stripes - darker than the hull buttom.
Silver is not at home on submarines exept on the working part of the periscopes.
I think this one captures the colours quite well https://modelshipwrights.kitmaker.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=forums/116323&page=1
Hope it helps/Cheers

Thanks Jan
Yes I am doing the Minenleger. See my earlier post as I am using the Griffon Model detail set.
I thought teh silver was bogus. Any notes on available paints that would correspond with these colors?
Thanks again.

You are welcome,
It depends on your choice of favorit brand - Lifecolor makes a nice 6 pcs set for Kriegsmarine that I have used on some of my subs.
Generally - theres a standardcolour until it meets the sub, then the elements take over ....
Cheers/Jan
