It focuses on the WW2 SCs, but I briefly covered the SCs of WW1 as a lead in.

Well, THANK YOU Bruce ...

I see that you have a G'orn as your avatar here ... That was one of my least favorite episodes of ST:TOS ... Have you seen the new Star Trek movie? I was simply blown away by it. GREAT movie!

All,

I've just received my 25 gratis copies of the SC book and I must say, I am quite impressed with the quality of the product. The quality of the photos is really good.

I mentioned that because I, like the majority of you have had serious issues with the quality of the photos in the newer Squadron books of late, specifically those books by a Mr. Adcock.

Based on what I've seen in those books and from all of your comments about them - I was, understandably scared out of my ghord over this book. From what I've just seen in a completed product, I feel that, WITHOUT BEING CONTRADICTED, that you will not be disappointed.

This is NOT a Mr. Adcock book ............

I was impressed and I'm my own worse critic.

Garth

Hello Garth,
I am getting an order ready for next month for Squadron. Your book is on the top of the list.
As for my Avatar, I change it about every 3-4 months. This is to keep people guessing what is going to be next.
Great news about your book, I am not worried about anything you have published. I know they will be Fantastic Books.
Cheers,
Bruce

I would gladly help you out Garth however my complimentary review copy appears to have been lost in the mail. LOL

Just joking with you Garth.

However in all seriousness though I am sure someone here on the forum can help you out.

Cheers

John Wayne owned a sub chaser. I'm not sure what kind (type...model, etc.), but I remember that was what it was...modified, etc for private ownership. I think it is still in So. Cal.

What he owned was a YMS ... which could be a Sub Chaser or Mine Sweeper Mike. It was not a SC.

That confusion was one of the main reasons why I did this new book guys. To have people see that there was another type of Sub Chaser design other than the 173 foot PC and the YMS hulls that were configured as Sub Chasers.

Not a lot of people know/knew the 110 footers even existed.

Another reason why I did this book was that my grandfather served on SC-21 and SC-253 in WW1 and my father served on SC-699 in WW2.

SC-699 was a famous boat before my father got aboard her. In 1943, she was hit by a G4M Betty bomber and nearly destroyed.

I got mine the other day and looked through it but that's about it. It is a very nice edition to my growing reference library. I may need to expand the number of bookcases in my new hobby room.

Loose Cannon has a 110' SC along with a PGM and Higgins PT in their Small Combatant set. They are all in 1/700 but still have a lot of detail.
