I figured this would be a decent complement to Gator's Ship Alphabet Soup post. I recently popped a 1931 document that lays out the prewar organization of commands in the Navy. While it predates the start of the Second World War by over a decade, some of the organizations were still present at the start of the war and it should serve as a good starting point for readers to use to guess later organizations that might not be listed.
