I have become friends with a veteran of he USS Liberty, and I would like o build him a model in 1/350. IS it possible to convert a liberty ship into a victory ship? I realize the victories were a little bigger and wider, but is it possible? thanks

Steve,
Welcome to the site. Now to your question.
I will actually have to defer to others. Making it larger to me would be easier than making it smaller. But, I will do some checking this weekend and see what I can dig up.

I think Trumpeter did a 1/350 Victory ship. You might want to check it out.

Phil, the Hawaiian Pilot, from what I can find, was a C-3 type cargo ship, and quite a bit larger than the Victory ships.

Kenny, far as I can find Trumpeter does two versions of a Liberty, but no Victory.
Steve, I don't think you're going to find a 1/350 Victory. As you said the Victorys were longer, wider, deeper than the Libertys so converting a Liberty probably isn't going to work.. The C-2 cargo ships were closer to the size of the Victory. It's very possible the veteran wouldn't know the difference if you did the other modifications needed to make the USS Liberty to a Hawaiian Pilot, like Phil suggested. He would probably appreciate the effort, more than the accuaracy.
There was apparently a 1/700 Victory made by Loose Cannon Productions, but it's out of production.
