Picked this up at the IPMS Newark show the other week

At just £4, it works out at about 50p per part!

Naturally construction is rather simple, although it does require a touch of filler fore and aft when you join the upper and lower hull together

Pretty simple colour scheme, although masking up to the rear fins and around that sticky out thing on the starboard rear (somebody please tell me what that is) was annoying.

And it is tiny, which means all the flaws in my paint job are blown up this close up. Also has convinced me that 1/700 is just too small a scale for me.

This is my 8th finished model of the year, and my first finished ship kit since I was a kid (my first attempt stalled due to fear of complex masking).

The Harushio is a diesel-electric submarine operated by the Japan Maritime Self Defence Force, launched in 1989 and comissioned in 1990.

Nice job Neil, and as this is your first completed ship model kit, what will be your second?
Cheers,

Thanks Gunny - USS Hancock CV-19 for the WW2 flat-tops campaign in the New Year using the 1/700 Dragon kit. The wimp in me wants to build it in the nice simple 1945 scheme, but reading about Leyte Gulf in One day in a very long war has filled me with fascination for this incredible battle, so 1944 dazzle scheme it is!
